DANI GODDARD

As a teen, I knew social work was the field I wanted to enter.  It wasn't until I was 30 years old that I finally completed my Bachelor of Social Work with a focus on grief, death and dying.  I began my career in the health care field working in many different areas.  Along my journey, I married my soul mate and three years later, gave birth to beautiful twin girls; Abby and Bree.  Abby died seven months later due to medical complications.

Sports had always been a big part of my life and I was missing the competition of sport so a friend had encouraged me to join Crossfit.  In March 2013, I joined a Crossfit gym and found it helpful, not only for my physical health but my mental and emotional health as well.

In March 2014, my husband died in a motor vehicle accident and two days after his accident, I was back in the gym.  Fitness has been a healthy coping mechanism along my grief journey.  I earned my Crossfit Level 1 Trainer certification in November 2015 and began coaching at a gym in my small town.

In 2019, I completed my Master of Social Work with the goal to integrate fitness and counselling as both have helped me tremendously on my journey.  Soul & Strength Studio opened up for business in October, 2019 and has grown into a small but mighty community of athletes.

I completed my Grief Recovery Certification in February 2020 and hope to begin offering group sessions in the fall of 2020.

I am currently offering individual counselling using a positive, client centred, solution focused approach.  Therapy may include work using the grief recovery method, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, trauma work as well as psycho-education. I am here to assists individuals make positive changes to help manage and overcome anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and other life issues that may arise.  Individual session are by appointment only.
